Additional Information
The 2011 Holmes Lecture – In Celebration of Earth Week presents: Jeremy Jackson, Scripps institution of Oceanography. We are proud to announce that SUNY-ESF is co-sponsoring Syracuse University’s 2011 Holmes Lecture in celebration of Earth Week. This year’s speaker, Dr. Jeremy Jackson, is one of the most prominent marine ecologists in the world. Dr. Jackson is the William E. and Mary B. Ritter Professor at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and a Senior Scientist at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in the Republic of Panama. Dr. Jackson is more than just an academic researcher, and he has a message to get out about the world’s oceans – declines in coral reefs, decreasing numbers of large marine fish, and losses of coastal and marine ecosystems, and he actively searches for innovative ways to reach the public to inspire action. All are welcome to join us for what will be a most interesting and informative evening. An event flyer is attached.
