Leonard Coburn will be on campus on April 10th to give a talk on debunking myths about today's energy prices.

He teaches the Global Energy, Economics and Geopolitics course (IRP 700) in DC, addressing international energy issues and how these interact with development concerns, human rights, the environment, geopolitics, and regional rivalries, among other topics.

As President of Coburn International Energy Consultants, Mr. Coburn provides consulting services focusing on domestic and international oil, gas, political risk, and geopolitics topics, in addition to focusing on international energy issues concerning Russia, the former Soviet Union, and the Middle East. He has authored or co-authored several articles for academic journals, newsletters and newspapers.

The former President of both the International Association for Energy Economics and the United States Association for Energy Economics, Leonard Coburn is also the former Director of the Office of Russian and Eurasian Affairs at the Department of Energy. Mr. Coburn worked at the DOE for over 25 years, prior to which he worked at the Department of Justice as a senior attorney prosecuting antitrust matters related to the energy and transportation industries.

Mr. Coburn has an A.B. in government and economics from Cornell, a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, and an L.L.M. in taxation from the National Law School at George Washington University.
