Dr. Burnam's portfolio includes energy, environment, and sustainable development issues. He recently helped develop the Congo Basin Forest Partnership, a presidential initiative that conserves the forests and wildlife of the Congo Basin while promoting social and economic development in that region of Africa. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Chicago and teaches as an adjunct professor of government at Georgetown University.
